Making a loud grinding noise when trying to put it in 4WD
low and will not go into 4WD low but it will go into 4WD
high but still grinds a little

Sounds like the vacuum actuator/switch on front axle that assists in shifting into 4wd is not functioning properly. Although it could very well be lack of gear oil, linkage messed up, etc. My Dodge was doing that grinding sound I had to pull over and actually disconnect the transfer case and front drive line because of the grinding even though I wasn't in 4wd.
