My company truck was doing the same. Turned out to be loose connection at the blower motor. Yours should be located under passenger side of dash right at edge of dash by door. Fooled with connections for a day or two. Then one morning one of my workers kicked up on blower motor housing and it went to working and has not acted up since. I don't advise kicking yours but maybe a little bump on the side of it will get it going for you.
The air blows cold but the fan only blows occasionally. One day the air works fine; the next it will not work at all.
