Cutting out cat on 01 ram 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Has anyone done this? If so how?? Haha what do I
do about the up/down flow sensors?? What are the
risks? I have heard fuel econo down the drain  
etc....

Recipicating saw. Sounds good. Loss of power do to back pressure. Good mufflers fixes that. Won't hurt it

Well I'm in Canada. Haha sure it illegal here too... but I'm a single mom of two. Can't afford the new cat. I'm a welder by trade.. so figerd I could save some coin by cutting it out. But only if it doesn't make it worse? The 02 sealed bungs? What?? Lol sorry. "Lame man's " terms please? Hahaha

The sneaky way to deal with a bad cat is to take a pipe and breakup the insides and empty the cat out and then re-install it.

Full is right gutting the cat work. Hammer the fiber glass out of it. The only o2 you have to worry about is on the down pipe or manifolds. Rear o2 just for global warming ... It's cold outside now. Got ER done;!!

Did it. Cleaned out cat. Welded back together. Truck is still back firing when idling... burning rich. All I can smell is fuel. Loss of power. I'm ready to burn this thing! I have changed the up flow o2 sensor. The crank sensor.. now what? Map sensor? Cam sensor? ? Please help me...

Ohhh. Ok yeah. My friend has a code reader. Only code coming up is some evap code. Somthing to do with my a/c. Haha... don't think that's it. . I dont have much money to throw at it.. so going to try plugs n wires... I have vid of what is doing.. but don't think I can share on here. Thank you though! !!! :D

1998 dodge ram replaced spark plugs,wires ,rot button,dis cap,oxygen sen,and coil. .drive it maybe 17 miles starts missing and backfiring any suggestions stops after I punch it to the floor lol a little bit later does it again sometimes not

it doesn't hurt fuel economy it does give small amount of extra hp I noticed when I take off no back fires no warning lights I have 99 dodge ram 1500 remove inside of cat and welded back side of it I cut out if no welder get a piece of tin and screw and jb weld it in ive also done that and it worked no leaks 5 yrs later

How did you clean out the inside of the catalytic converter?

buy new headers with 2 1/2 inch pipe then buy a cherry bomb muffler with pipe it will last for years and give you performance
