Brown sludge on oil cap, and reservoir neck

I was attempting to do an oil change on my Ram 1500, 4.7. As I removed the
oil cap, to refill with new oil.....I saw a brown colored sludge, on the oil cap and
reservoir neck. It looks like a water and oil mixture. Weird thing is, the oil in
the oil pan, look clean. Any suggestions? I'm hoping, it isn't anything major.

Water in the oil may be from a leaking head gasket. Does your truck have white exhaust? A small amount of moisture could be from condensation if you only drive short distances and don't get the truck fully warmed up.
