Question type: Maintenance & Repair
diagnostic is reading misfire on number 2
cylinder. truck is running horrible when at
low rpm, and will stall if idling. problem
came out of nowhere, truck ran fine all day. I
parked it for 15 minutes and when I
restarted it I noticed it immediately. I
replaced the number 2 spark plug and coil
pack and it still runs terrible. what can I do?
where is the next place I should look?

Possible causes - Faulty spark plug 2 - Clogged or faulty fuel injector 2 - Faulty ignition coil 2 - Fuel injector 2 harness is open or shorted - Fuel injector 2 circuit poor electrical connection - Ignition coil 2 harness is open or shorted - Ignition coil 2 circuit poor electrical connection - Insufficient cylinder 2 compression - Incorrect fuel pressure - Intake air leak. The P0302 code means that the cylinder 2 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks an if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 2. If the problem persist more tests needs to be done to diagnose problem.
My 2002 dodge 4.7 has the code p0302 just pop up , My truck is rubring like a champ though... I just bought it and the vacuum hoses where wrong ,idling up and down and other things.. I capped off the tube on back of air resonator I got my pcv going to the back of the intake manifold and I got 2 crank case vent tubes going to a line to the evap... That line going to evap was capped off I don't know if it was suppose to be or not but like I said truck is running strong first time I seen the check engine light on since I bought it. P0302 I have no idea why.
Check the compression on the #2 cylinder if it dont read like the others replace the piston ring and piston
