Chances I caused serious damage to my engine

Asked by randomguy112 Aug 26, 2014 at 07:36 PM about the 2002 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.9L engine. First off I drove it  with low oil for a
week and a half (I know I'm an idiot). Now, when if I drive it for a bit then turn it off then
try to start it again it doesn't start. It doesn't make any noises it just does nothing
when I turn the key. This just started happening today and it made a loud knocking on
only one occasion when trying to start it. I'm really scared that I seriously damaged
the engine. I'm assuming I did. What are the chances I blew my engine?
