Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Hey everyone, last night the check gauge light came on as the truck started to overheat. I shut it down to let it cool off and to troubleshoot the problem then it wouldn't start back up. Looking for some direction and advise. Thanks

what are the simptoms? does it make any noise when you turn the ingnition key? electrical noise? engine noise? do the pulleys turn?
first suspect.. thermostat... second... loose rad cap... third ... temp. sender bad... fourth... water pump... based on my years of guessing... take it for what it's worth... :P
with the change in body styles, the computers on the trucks became much smarter, pretty much your truck was protecting its self from damage by not letting you start it back up. check your thermostat, or your heater core.
It start and then died
My radiator cap came off truck. Ran hot 2005 1500 5.7 it died now it will start but it cut off never had no problem run like new before this yesterday
My 2001 Dodge Ram overheated on the highway, dumping coolant on the highway, and died. I pulled it over, raised the hood, and let it cool off for a bit. It starts up and idles. What could be the problem? And did I hurt my engine?
