2003 dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi no oil pressure

Asked by Bubbagto68 Dec 13, 2019 at 02:01 PM about the 2003 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.7 hemi . You can
start the truck and with a min the oil pressure drops and
the motor starts to rattle. You can turn the truck off and
wait a few mins . Start it up and have pressure for a min the
drops and motor rattle. Thought it was the oil pump.
Replaced the oil pump , pickup tube and cleaned out pan
. But still have same problem . Truck has about 145000
miles . Any help would be appreciated .

The engine may be worn out. The crank bearings may have too much clearance which means low oil pressure.
