2004 dodge ram abs not working and abs light is not on

I have a 2004 dodge ram

the abs does not seem to work...the other day I slammed the breaks on to test them on ice and the truck brakes just locked up and the abs didn't not kick in

the abs light on instrument panel is not lit up


any ideas?

Well for what its worth the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT has an option of ABS and if it does, it's ABS, rear wheels only, according to http://www.edmunds.com/dodge/ram-pickup-1500/2004/features-specs/ -which seems a bit silly to me since the front does about 70% of stopping anyway, Maybe it is meant to prevent fish-tailing in a panic stop, just a guess. But the front locking up is to be expected and normal. Lose steering and what good is that?
