Blower motor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 2004 dodge ram 1500 keeps burning out
blower motor resistors. Last one only lasted a few
days. Blower motor still works. Wondering if
changeing it and the harness will solve this
problem?

have you replaced your blower motor yet? Give the motor a spin, does it spin freely? Do a resistance test, what is the resistance (if you have an ohm meter that is)?
No i haven't replaced it yet but i have ordered the parts. I havent removed the blower to see if it spins freely but im guessing it doesnt since there is a bit of a squeal when i first turn it on which tells me there is some resistance. I dont have an ohm meter. I figure due to it being 14 years old i might as well change everything.
Resistor heats up to the point where solder melts and plastic turns brown and cracks. This tells me the harness is failing or blower motor is on its last leg and soon to crap out. Dont need any fires starting to replacing all is prob best.
