My 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L V8 shuts off periodically while turning.

Asked by Gonzalo Mar 13, 2012 at 10:42 AM about the 2005 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It's nothing that happens due to a regularly occurring event and not one that I can predict, but at low
speeds and typically while turning, my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L V8 truck will shut off the engine
and require me to restart it.  What could be the cause of this?

Okay well based on what you wrote and if it happens when you turn right for the most part. I would say its the fuel pump. At certain RPMs and when turning right, the fuel pump has a lot of pressure on it and so it is either cloged (indluding valve) or the pump is almost dead. It may also be a Vacume leak. But first I would check if you have any leaks especially IAC valve leak.
