2005 dodge 1500 5.7l won’t crank after possible air pocker

Asked by Kelly Wright Sep 04, 2018 at 12:54 PM about the 2005 Dodge RAM 1500 ST Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Water pump went bad on 2005 dodge 1500 with
the 5.7 Hemi. Changed out water pump and refilled
fluids. But did not fill coolant directly into radiator
but through coolant tank

Let idle for about 10 minutes and then shut it off.
About two hours later went on about a 2 mile test
drive. Towards end of test started overheating. Shut
it off and now it will turn over but not start. Acts like
to wants to but just won’t.  When first started
overheating I turned heater on full blast but air was
cool for a minute or two before becoming hot.
Guessing I had air in system but at a loss what To
do now.  Ran codes and got p0117 for engine
coolant temp sensor low voltage and p0406 for
exhaust gas recirculator.

Edited to add: checked oil and it didn’t look milky or like it had coolant in it. Disconnected battery and the coolant sensor code went away but now battery is dead. So need to recharge it
