Windshield Wipers Operation Malfunction

Asked by doconn9918 Dec 26, 2014 at 10:28 AM about the 2006 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The operation of my wipers is unpredictable.  They will operate every time I switch them on but most often continue to operate when I switch them off.  Usually they won’t operate intermittently as selected with the switch, instead they operate at low speed.  They will almost always continue to operate even when I switch them off and when they do stop, they don’t stop at the bottom of the windshield as they’re supposed to.  I usually have to cycle the switch from off to fast speed quickly multiple times to get them to stop.  Once I get them stopped, I have to turn them on to coordinate shutting them off so they stop at the bottom of the windshield. Any idea what the problem is and can you provide instructions on how to replace the defective part(s)?

hi sounds like the park switch is bad in the motor assy....this is a simple ground switch that tells the circuit board that the wipers are to the bottom of the windshield and to let it stop at the bottom when turned off...also that's why there is no delay...doesn't know the wipers are at the bottom to shut them off and start the timer

My Wipers work in Hi but on delay they stop or might move very slowly. I don’t know if they pause at the bottom of the windshield
