my brake lights dont shut off when engine is off and key out of ignition its a 1500 quad cab 4x4 but if i lift up on brake pedal they go off. is it a bad switch or is there an adjustment i can do?

My 2007 does not have an adjustment. Inspect yours to see if it has an adjustment nut. If not I would replace the switch.

Some switches are held in with rubber gourmets. They tear and don't hold the switch in place any longer. I'm not sure if your particular vehicle is mounted in this way. If it's mounted with bolts then it's probably the switch.
