2001 Chevy Venture Van air conditioner doesn't get cool what do I need to check

The air comes and goes the compressor seems to switch on and off all the time and it seems to be getting worse, the compressor kicks on but now it doesn't seem to blow cold and I have check the a/c Freon and it says its full (fully charged).  Where should I check next?

Lift the hood and look for your serpentine belt. Turn vehicle on and run A/c on full. Watch the belt and the pulleys. See if you can tell if the pulley is freezing up from time to time or turning at all. More than likely its a pulley or your compressor needs to be replaced.

I had the same problem ... a mechanic said he'd replace the required components (compressor weeping/leaking) for $850. This was not worth it to me ... but got hot on vacation in NM ... stopped in Deming asked independent shop if he'd conduct an experiment for me, i.e., evacuate the system and recharge same with 134 containing stop leak ... it has been cooling me nicely for two years ... cost $95.00. I gambled and won ... so far ...

Sounds low on freon did you check gauge with ac clutch engaged if not you get a different reading I believe
