Start then die

Car starts wether hot or cold but there are times it
dies right after its started and I need to press the
pedal to get it going and if it doesn't even work
need a jump thinking there's a frayed wired or
something wrong electrically

One thing to check would be the fuel pressure. It should be 56 to 63 lbs. Easy check with a fuel pressure gauge by hooking it up to the Schrader valve up on the fuel line on top of the intake manifold. Turn the key to the on position to build up the fuel pressure, read the gauge. If fuel pressure is 55 to 50 lbs. it would be hard starting. You would start by changing the fuel filter and if that does not bring the fuel pressure up then the fuel pump would need to be changed.
