My 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier and I are stranded, because I can not crank it.

Asked by 39TLCplease Apr 26, 2019 at 06:34 AM about the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am a 39 year old woman that knows nothing
about vehicles except on how to drive them. I was
going through the drive through here at William's
Chicken, the wait was long, therefore I turned my
lights and engine off. I then went to crank it back
up and it would not turn over, although my
headlights work, as well as the dash board lights.
Please help me somebody, ASAP. THANK YOU
KINDLY!

If you know nothing about cars then what do you expect to do ? Are you going to crawl underneath or break out the multi meter ?

Best bet would to call AAA or a local auto service. If it will not crank, could be the battery, started, bad battery cable connection, etc. It will take some basic troubleshooting and some tools to determine the problem. You could try getting a jump start.

Well I hope you haven't been sitting in the drive thru of William's Chicken all this time waiting for an answer, those are going to be some irate customers behind you! I'm with Gary on this one, probably a dead battery. A battery can lose enough juice to not crank a car yet still be able to run some lights. You won't know until you try to jump it.
