help please Twin grandsons filled my tank chevy cavalier 2000 with water now it is fried.

Asked by Crystal Oct 24, 2012 at 11:44 AM about the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My husband is pretty good at keeping our cars fixed but this one has him stumped.
He drained some of the gas from the front and then had to take gas tank off to get the rest out.  He then replaced the fuel pump , fuel injectors, fuel filter, gas lines .
He got the car to run but when you drive it acts like it is not getting gas.

did someone try to start it with the water in the tank? if so try pulling the plugs and drying them off if wet........... also it wouldnt hurt to crank over with plugs out to try to get water or moisture out of cylinder and check oil sludgey milky residue (Worst case senario)
