Maybe there is a ground problem? I don't know how dark or day light would make a difference, except, at night the tail lights are on. Maybe the tail lamps are going to ground through the brake lamp circuit because of a faulty ground. If you want a wiring diagram for brake lamp circuit, I'll try to post it.

put in dorman tail light harness ,replaced bulb but no luck . Middle brake light and right brake lights working . Should I have changed all bulbs on left side?
