2005 Mercedes Benz CLK 500 Convertible

Asked by CarRadMan Mar 03, 2020 at 10:36 AM about the 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK 500 Cabriolet

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have the same issue. If I twist the wiper toggle to any of the 3 "automatic"
positions, the wipers do not work despite heavy rain. When I push my
windshield washer button inward it sprays the windshield and wipers work.
This is a problem when driving through rain because I constantly have to
keep pressing the windshield washer button. I have a 2005 CLK 500
Convertible. Any possible solutions?

One possible, but $$$ solution is to replace the stalk . No easy fix I know of.

What do you mean when you refer to a "Stalk"? Do you mean the wiper arm used to control the wipers that is attached to the steering column? Also, do you think it could be the rain sensor? Or a faulty fuse?
