What kind of alternator is on a 2005 mercedes clk320

I need to replace it. I got my alternator and battery replaced a couple months ago. My visit workshop light came on recently so I had it in the shop for 3 days and they couldn't find the problem.drove an 1 hour home car was fine. Next day after driving on highway for 2 hours ac went out, radio went, error codes started popping up esp code, coolant code then it just died no power at all. When the tow truck came and popped the hood the mechanic didn't put my air filter back that goes over the battery in the black harness with clamps. Can that damage my car?
