What engine would be good to swap in my 2000 Chevy Malibu V6

I would like to have a better economic engine that is also a gas saver

not worth the effort, they all are guzzlers, its the fuel going scrappy, changing harness to accommodate a pcm to run that engine forget it you could tune the existing engine to a tee .. starting with grinding and indexing sparkplugs, and son on and on

2016 Malibu 1.5 t . after swapping engine . do I have to upgrade software or correlation reset. no codes. on accel dies like tps fault.
