PREMIUM. I have a 2012 E350 4MATIC AMG that I hand ordered, and bought brand new. It the manual it clearly states "PREMIUM UNLEADED GASOLINE IS RECOMMENDED". Your engine, fuel economy, and pocketbook will thank you down the road. Cheap gas is just that, cheap and it causes carbo build up, injector corrosion, and poor gas mileage as it is crude and harder for the engine to burn.

Silliness! The only issue, and it is a big one, is that lower octane fuel will pre-ignite, especially in hot weather. MB engines have higher compression ratios in order to increase performance, and that causes pre-ignition ("pinging,") especially in hot weather. The computer should rein the engine back, but that will undermine performance.
