The ABS system employs maximum braking above 10mph. Why and can it be disabled to drive.

Asked by MYRAPOS May 04, 2012 at 08:00 AM about the 2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML 320 4MATIC

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Pulling out of my driveway before I can accelerate, the brakes lock up, tires skid then release. If I try to step on the gas it does it again. it took me forever to return to the house. What causes this the ABS ETS or both? Can I disable it to drive to a repair shop?

When ask a question you should state what year and model you have. You cannot disable ABS or ETS. You probably have a problem with one of the wheel speed sensors.

Is your Downhill Speed Control turned on? That will do it as well.
