The W163 ML can get complicated when it comes to keys. Most certainly you will need programming done with the STAR scan tool or aftermarket equivalent. it is not as simple as changing the ignition cylinder and having new keys coded & cut. Depending on the build date, there is a separate component located in the AAM which controls the anti theft and key programming. Refer to www.benzworld.org and do your research, it will take some time but well worth it.
