2000 Chevy suburban won't move when put in gear. What could be causing this problem?

Low transmission fluid. Brakes may be hung up. Try backing up, then forward. Bad transmission? Assuming it is an automatic transmission. If you know how to check the fluid, I'd start there. The Suburban must be running, in park with the parking brake on. Pull the transmission dip stick, clean it off and re-stick it in the transmission. Pull it out again and it should read full. If it does, I'd have to say the transmission needs servicing. You may have to have it towed to a transmission specialist. If you have AAA, call them and see if they can check the fluid if your not sure how to do it correctly.
