Transmission oil shown inside

Shop ,new indy, claims pulls up carpet
on passenger side.Transmission oil
leaking onto trans module and plate.
Estimate close to $1400.00 to fix. SL
500, 1999, 50,000 miles, no codes,
shifts ok. What is going on?

Sounds like your seals are bad. Maybe transmission was overfilled somewhere in hte past and it built up internal pressure. What did the estimate say it was going to fix for $1400?
Thats correct. MB are well engineered, everyone has dif. opinion and price. Transmission sealed at factory ,no dipstick. Just amazed to see all that transmission fluid in the passenger footwell. Any SL 500 experts out there ? 1999 model , 5 speed auto?
I still say it is a blown seal! likely only a dealer could have done it because they have the tools
