Guessing your CLS has airmatic suspension. The squeeking over a bump or dip in the road could indicate a leaking airmatic shock, or worn bushings/ball joints. You can tell the following ways: 1.) Push down on a fender or the rear quarter where you think the noise is coming from (or all 4), if the car rebounds more than 1.5 times (1.5 meaning down then up then half down) the shocks are likely toward their end. 2.) is the car pulling either direction when driving? When did you have the alignment done last? Are you experiencing irregular tire wear?
I would bet on front lower balls. The uppers will make more of a rattle noise when they are bad. Sometimes the radius arm bushings or joints will squeak. But lower bj's are most common.
I had this problem .it was the springs. bob
