2006 R350 oil level message came on. My husband added oil then check engine message appeared. Then my car started sounding like the engine wasn't running on all cylinders, i.e., running rough!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car only has 58k miles it's been great so far. It was driving perfectly until my husband
put the oil in it. I've no idea why he felt it necessary to add it @10:30pm on our way home
at the gas station. He said the lighting was terrible.

most newer cars MUST have the correct weight oil added, 0W40 or 5W40 the oil cap will indicate or the owners manual for your application and can not be overfilled

He didn't get the oil fill cap on straight and unmetered air was entering the engine causing it to run rough. Been there, done that.
