I'm assuming you're driving an 1986 Honda? OK...DUMB, but I'll give you the best way to find out. Install a reliable tachometer with a shift light. Set the shift light 200 RPM below your max RPM level. On a straight course, leave it in second, watching only the speedometer, slowly acclerate until the shift light flashes. You won't have to look at the tach as the light will be visible through perifrial (mispelled) vision. You'll have your answer. BTW..if you drive a connecting rod through the block on that very OLD engine, you didn't shift soon enough and you'll understand why I said it was DUMB in the first place.
