My civic wagon has water inside the motor?

Asked by wagon_88 Nov 15, 2016 at 11:43 PM about the 1988 Honda Civic Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I did a 97 swap on my 88 civic wagon re did the head new gasket all around wen it was time to turn on the car I notice a lot of smoke coming out of the exhaust. So I keep the car on for couple mins. then I turned it off n checked oil and got the surprise that there was water in the block. what does it mean is it possible that the head gasket was put on the wrong way or the bottom block is bad

Was the mating surface on the head sent to a machine shop to get resurfaced? Possibly the wrong gasket was sold to you?
