The door latch closes from hearing the first click. Then the latch should turn all the way down with a second click which would close the door completely. The second click doesn't happen and the door is closed but not all the way.

can you get it open from the inside when you do use the screwdriver to jam the latch down and see if it clicks

I sprayed the door latch with a lot of lube and then slammed the door so the latch finally engaged to its 2nd click position. This closed or pulled in the door striker completely and now the door is closed all the way.
