Is there a common overheating problem with the 1981 Toyota Corolla?

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE HEATER CORE FOR A CLOG. MAY BE RESTRICTING PROPER FLOW IN THE SYSTEM.
Remember the basics. Proper mix of antifreeze and distilled water please, Make sure that the cap is good as well, have it tested if it is the pressure type. Make sure that the belt driving the water pump and radiator fan (if applicable) is the proper tension. Make sure that thermostat is a genuine toyota part of the correct heat range. If you notice white buildup (calcium deposits caused by using non distilled tap water) then you can take radiator to shop and they can clean it, or you can find a pretty decent one brand new on line. Hope this helps.

May also want to do a cooling system flush the cooling ports on the engine maybe getting clogged. Prestone Super Flush is really good.
