tire size for 99 chevy blazer

Asked by delita Oct 03, 2016 at 07:19 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Car Customization

I need new tires for my 99 chevy blazer. it's 4wd and the tires that are supposed to go on it are 235/75/15. I don't know how much longer it's going to last so i'm trying to spend as little as possible on them. I found someone selling basically brand new tires that are 215/75/15, would I be able to use those instead of the 235's on my blazer? or would it cause problems?

Here's a link that will allow you to see the difference between those tire sizes. It will also tell you the difference in speed between what your speedometer says and actual speed is. https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=235-75r15-215- 75r15 Overall, going down or up a little in tire size will not hurt anything. However, if you change tire size just be aware that you'll need to make sure your tires clear any suspension parts when the front tires are turned (shouldn't be a big deal if you go down in size) and your speedometer will no longer be accurate.

Be sure they are rated for the weight of the Blazer, and are not car tires.
