Can I get a diesel engine to convert my '85 5 door liftback corolla?

You can put a diesel engine into your 1985 Corolla. The engine in the corolla is a 1.5L so it is probably the same. I would check on it when you are purchasing the diesel engine. Good Luck.

You Cannot do this without changing many many other parts which would be extremely costly, thus, not worth the hassle.

Anything is possible depending on how much you want to put into it...a friend of mine put a Ford 302 V8 in his 74 Celica. I think diesel is higher than regular gas right now, are you sure it would be worth all the trouble?
