1986 fwd corolla engine

Question type: Car Customization

My engine has a bad knock. What other motors
can I replace it with? '86 models are hard to come
by. Can I replace with newer engines?

you can get a brand new crate engine or tear down what you have and rebuild it , if you find one used it too will have many miles on it with questionable reliability , if it;s not rotted out underneath I would invest in it , newer cars are loaded with overkill technology and problems

Thanks, I didn't think of the electronic side of things. Mine it very stock standard so wouldn't be much electrics at all. Is there a good website for ordering crate motors and does any certain numbers need to match up? Mine is a 1.6L auto. I live in western Australia btw

If you want to be certain about what engine you are ordering use your VIN to get the exact correct engine.

keep the old motor around till the new one is up and running , and yes , you want the exact same thing
