Oxygen Sensor

I only have 3 oxygen sensors, but exhaust fitted for 4.
I have plugged O2 sensor with 18 mm plug, but check engine light comes on
after about 50 miles and same code for oxygen sensor comes up over and
over again. How do I fix so check engine light won't come on for this issue?
Shouldn't the plug worked? What am I doing wrong?
