where is the voltage regulator located on a 1985 celica gt

Asked by thewraith Nov 24, 2013 at 04:35 PM about the 1985 Toyota Celica GT Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife told me that on her way home last night that the lights on her car were dimming and that she barely made it home, I checked the battery and it was dead, belts looked fine and are tight. I charged the battery and started the car and the built in voltage meter showed that the battery was charging at a rate of 12 volts, the battery was replaced this past spring, I think it is the voltage regulator but I don't know where it is located on her car.

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/102-1st-2nd-generation-1983-1986- 1987-1991/222925-lights-dim-idle-voltage-regulator.html -- check this out. It's inside the alternator. Better off to just get a lifetime alternator from auto zone.
