What causes my engine to have delayed up shift or down shift when its COLD??? I have a automatic

Recently when I am driving and its cold the engine has a delay in the shifting up or down..  Example.. I was driving on the highway, everything is fine, until when i have to exit it has a slow shifting and then it finially reves down . on its own.
THIS IS ONLY WHEN ENGINE gauge reads  COLD

is your check engine on? Mine went off but it was a fuel inj model(98 olds regency..great mil on the high with tech cleaner) ...sound like you a good injector cleaner..Techron is the most reliable ..my chk light went off and the shift problem stopped also' 'like yours disappeared' aft i used the 'tech cleaner' and 'gased up at chevron ' 2 times!
