Thank you, Tom. I am a single mom who bought a '99 Cavalier for my 16 yr old son and we are trying to learn as we go. I appreciate that you didn't treat me like I was stupid. We all have to start somewhere and you helped us.
not a problem there r alot of demeaning people out there also be careful with that engine those r known for coolant leaks and engine knocking which is an internal malfunction of the bearings inside just keep up on maintainance ei tune ups, oil changes every 3 thousand , different filter changes as well it will be beneficial and help perserve that enine look in owners manual it will tell u alot good luck

Unfortunately the car didn't come with the owners manual. As for coolant leaks I've already had to have two hoses replaced. I'll have him listen for any knocking. Thanks again.
there also bad for there headgaskets going in them so watch out for leaks around the the head where the head meets the block. if that starts happening and u dont want to put alot of money into it sell it cuz it will cost at least 1000 or more to fix its a big job and there not alot of macanics that will work on a 2.4 engine but if the car is well maintained and not beat should b ok.
oh and when u take off the throtle body dont forget to get a gasket for that or it will not runn proporly
