You can look up videos for this on youtube. So do that first and then you will understand the rest of what I just wrote. I didn't want to wait for radio keys. I ended up using 2 small jigsaw blades and was able to pull the radio right out and get the serial number. Call a VW dealer and give them the serial number and the VIN number and they should give you the radio unlock code for free. It took them about two hours to call me back with the code.
I have put in my code after changing the battery and now it is scanning and won't stop. Any advice ?
I'm not sure if it's the same, but on a Volvo the radio goes to reading OFF. You must disconnect then reconnect the battery to get back to the original message. (OFF on Volvo) and leave the power on for 2 hours. The message should change back to ENTER CODE.
