Seriously recommend getting a Haynes manual, this is not an easy job which may require removal of the timing belt, depending on what engine you have. This is something that should be done by an expert.
I agree, there is very little room to work. This not a "do by feel" job, best left for a expert. I agree 100% with littlehorn. best of luck.
you do not have to remove the belt or any hoses, just the lower case cover because it hides 1 bolt. the unit is very easy to replace once you've gotten the lower case cover off.
