Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just spent 350.00 for a 98 VW cabrio. Went to do the
basics, plugs wires dist. cap & rotor button plus air filter
before changing the oil. When taking the air filter out, I saw
oil in the air filter. What are the possibles I might be looking
at. And ive looked in the manual but theres no pcv valve
listed?

Check the oil level. If it is good, drive the car for a few minutes after replacing the air filter with a new pne. If there is oil in the new filter take the car to a mechanic and see what he or she says. One possibility is the crankcase breather system has a valve that is open. The crankcase breather is the system that hand then connects with lots of tubes that also connect with the air filter. Might have to replace it. Easy fix. Non-critical problem if that is what it is.
