Closest I could find for specs interior: Internal dimensions: front headroom (inches): 39.3, rear headroom (inches): 41.3, front leg room (inches): 37.8, rear leg room (inches): 28.3, front shoulder room (inches): 60.4 and rear shoulder room (inches): 63.6

I would be more concerned with exceeding the max vehicle weight capacity. The rear suspension would require serious bolstering to support more than 500 lbs of cargo back there. If you're wanting to stay in the VW family, perhaps a single or double cab Kombi in decent shape can be located in your area. They have fold-down sides and can be easily loaded/unloaded...and they're really cool!

These are even harder to find. single or double cab Kombi. Though it would serve our needs. What about a Canadian or Mexico import? I still need the interior distance between the wheel bases. Thanks Neil

This is a technical drawing of the interior dimensions of the Eurovan. Space between the rear wheelwells is 1220 mm... 48.03". I've seen posts on forums where folks have loaded plywood sheets behind the front seats with the middle seats removed.
