Lumina won't start after being driven for a while then parked.

Asked by Jared Sep 18, 2014 at 10:42 AM about the 1999 Chevrolet Lumina Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After driving back from a work location, roughly a 45 minute drive, my '99 Lumina wont
start again for around an hour after parking it. It was throwing misfire codes and EGR
codes. I've replaced the EGR, cleaned the channel from the EGR to the throttle body,
replaced plugs and wires, replaced O2 sensors. It no longer throws any codes, but the
issue persists.
On initial start it will idle normally, drop then come back to normal. It repeats this
pattern, though some days it is more noticeable than others.
With no service engine light on and no codes being thrown I'm not sure where to look
next.

I know its been a while since you posted this, but I thought i'd throw it out anyway I had a lumina that did that, and it ended up being a bad injector. It would get hot and then not work. you could drive it forever, but as soon as you shut it off it would take an hour to cool and restart.
