First get a volt meter and see what your battery is putting out for volts with the engine off. If 12.5 or higher, that should be good. Make sure your terminals are clean and tight. Make sure your ground is clean. Have someone hold the key to the ON position like they're starting the car. Pound on the starter with a hammer. If starter won't engage with proper voltage from the battery, then I would replace the starter. If it does turn over after rapping on it, it's on it's way out.
It overheated and shut itself down replaced the water pump now will not start 1999 Chevy Lumina
