I have a '99 Chevy Lumina LTZ. Recently the low oil light came on and sure enough it was low (but had been checked just the week before and was fine). Then, recently the "service engine soon" light came on. I checked all fluids and everything was fine. Manual says it could be something to do with emissions?? Do I need to get it to a mechanic ASAP? I am wanting to sell this car in the near future. Thank you! 1 Answer

I have a 1999 Chevy Lumina LTZ 3.8. It has 200,000 miles. Recently, it has been stalling when driving. When it stalls, everything dies. I just put the car in neutral and it starts again. I am not sure if this is related to a heat issue as my radiator has a small leak in it and it constantly needs fluid. My car gets a little warm (temperature gauge) but nothing extreme. I know it could be a lot of things. I have had the charging system checked at two different places an they said everything was fine. Not sure what it could be? 4 Answers

My Lumina's "Service Engine Soon" light came on as I tried to turn over the ignition. The engine turned over, however the engine seemed to be oscillating and shook the car. I turned it off, popped the hood. I couldn't find anything visually wrong. So I turned it over again, same idiot light and oscillation, however I noticed smoke coming from the electrical component up front under the exhaust manifold. This car is a 1996, w/ 155Kmiles and a new computer and 50K on the new trannie. I love the car and don't want to get rid of it, what should this be? Is it worth repairing? Is the smoke (like that of a burnt electrical component) related to the oscillation? I would appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you 1 Answer
1996 lumina, LS, 3.1L. We use only synthetic oil. I noticed the oscillation and idiot light together. the smoke was a couple of days later when i tried to trouble shoot.

I have a '99 Chevy Lumina LTZ, and for the first couple of years that I had it it would never really heat up until the past two years, when I noticed the temperature gauge actually moving. Anyway, when it heats up(needle in the center or right in the gauge), my car shakes and it shifts really hard. Any ideas? It has 172,xxx on it, and I'd like to get another year or so out of it without replacing anything major. 2 Answers
