Rims & tires

1010tires.com has a great tool for this. Go to their front page, and you can click "Custom Car Wizard." This will let you see what your car would look like with different size tires. It's pretty fun.

I'm not sure how you want your car to look... I would suggest getting a 'staggered' fitment (meaning that the rear wheels are slightly wider than the ones in the front; it makes it look sleeker). Don't go with 17's, because they wont look big enough. Go for an 18-inch wheel, around 8.0" wide in the front and 9.5" wide in the back. Tires are another story, because the tires make the rims lolz... If you want a 'stretched' tire setup (the rim sticks out farther than the tire's sidewall to make the wheel/tire setup look nicely tucked in the wheel well. But for the best tire setup, I would run 215/40/18 in the front on the 8.0" wide rim, and 235/40/18 tires in the rear for the 9.5" wheel. As for offset, try to find +40 for the front and +38 for the rear for the best results.

go with a set of OEM rims, either 17 or 18". Throw in a set of H&R wheel spacers, 8MM and longer bolts. Go to esctuning.com

Hi I have a question about my vw beetle 2006 I want to put skinny on front and wide on back like about 10 in on back what kind of spacers do need to go to a 15 in rim any help would be appreciated . thanks for your time.Ron

I looked up on net for more info on 'High Flotation Tyres' and got some basic info but could not find info on HOW they are helpful in sand, loose mud watery conditions? (I am assuming that tread pattern/etc are same as Passenger Tyres) Any idea mate? I have the stock Gypsy rims. What's their size and what's the max tyre size they can accommodate? No moolah for buying alloys right now :-( one advantage you get by upsizing, in off-road scenarios, is the actual ground clearance; and that make a huge difference in many situations. a 1/2" advantage of clearance could be the difference between getting stuck and making it through. I agree to your point of upsizing adding to the drag and loss of 'effective power'. I have plans to later address that part through different means.
