Gti spraying out oil

Asked by Guru2LM5K Feb 27, 2020 at 09:48 AM about the 2005 Volkswagen Golf GTI 1.8T 2-Door FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got a 2005 vw gti with the1.8t engine, it
has an upgraded turbo. when we drive it and
make any boost oil sprays all onto the
underneath of the hood it seems to be coming
out of the oil filler cap, but the seal looks good
on that. we tried turning it on and revving it
with the hood open, but nothing sprayed out.
took it for a ride then popped the hood and
there was more oil sprayed on the hood and
looked around oil filler cap. i also checked
dipstick and it still seems to be full like it
hasn’t lost much oil. why could it be doing
this?

Check the timing cover gaskets, that tends to leak around 100K. There is an upper and a lower, It's behind all your pulley's, so maybe that is why oil is getting thrown around the engine bay.
