engine not turning over when attement to start

I have a 1999 chevy suburban which just died on me and will not turn over, their is plenty of power in the battery. also should there be about a one inch thread pointing forward on the drivers side of the engine. THANK YOU.

A thread a inch big would have to be a rope. Turn over meaning engine spins without cranking or engine will not spin over at all?
